💜 Understanding the Types of Abusive Men

Inspired by “Why Does He Do That?” by Lundy Bancroft

At Sweet Pea House, our mission is to bring awareness, healing, and hope to survivors of abuse. We believe that knowledge is power — and that understanding the patterns of abusive behavior is a crucial step toward breaking the cycle and reclaiming peace.

Abuse doesn’t always look the same. Some abusers yell, others stay calm. Some control with fear, while others manipulate with charm.

But at the core, all forms of abuse are about power and control not anger, stress, or mental health.

In Why Does He Do That? counselor and author Lundy Bancroft outlines several common patterns of abusive men. Learning to recognize these types can help survivors and supporters understand what’s happening — and begin to break free from confusion and blame.

At Sweet Pea House, we believe:

💜 Healing begins with truth.

💜 Everyone deserves safety, respect, and peace.

💜 Awareness brings freedom.

If you or someone you love recognizes these patterns, know that you are not alone — and help is available.

💜 Need Help?
